Rode NTH-100 Headphones Review - B&C Camera

If you are in the video production world, there is no doubt that you have heard of the brand Rode. If you are new in this industry, Rode is one of the more notorious and popular brands in the sound engineering industry. Rode is known for its outstanding quality and microphones

Rode is a favorite amongst many of my peers and myself! They are indeed a great brand that puts a lot of focus on its user experience. Their new over-ear headphones recently hit the market and has quite an attractive price tag. I immediately wanted to run out and purchase this set so I could give you the low down on the Rode NTH-100. This headphone set is ideal for content creators. And content creation is super hot right now. So, is it right for you?!

Construction & Ergonomics

These headphones are durable and feel reliable. The Rode NTH-100 is made to go the distance.

The yoke structure on these headphones feels almost indestructible and just looks cool. The rest of its body (cup housing and headband) also feel resilient - not flimsy.

The clamp pressure is the only negative about its body. The pressure can be a little too much at first, but then you get used to it. I didn't notice any pain while wearing them. Overall, I think they are pretty comfortable, and I'm typically sensitive to how headphones feel sitting on my noggin.

The Rode NTH-100 has a futuristic look with its triangular-shaped ear pads, and the simplicity of the all-black body gives it a sleek look. I typically tend to lean toward simple designs with less fuss.

Okay, but how does it sound?!

This is important, probably the most essential part. I mean, c'mon... how does it sound? The Rode NTH-100 has an above-average tonal balance with great bass and midrange tones. The sound presentation is clear and warm. There is a bit of harmonic distortion, but nothing the average ear would really pick up. These headphones do what they need to do for the price and produce a quality sound with a great response range. You will get a range from 5 Hz to 35 kHz quickly. These obviously can't replace those with a price tag that doubles, but they are great for new audio engineers and content creators.

Features

The Rode NTH-1000 comes packed with features to increase the usability of these headphones. Here are some of those:

FitLok Locking Headband:

This remarkable feature is a locking system that keeps the headband in place and comfortable. It ensures they stay in place, so you won't have to refit them every time you plop them on your head - it limits the time you need to fiddle with them before you start recording. The earcups are guaranteed to stay in place.

Detachable Cable:

You can tug the Rode NTH-100, and it will still hold up. This cord ensures you won't have to deal with those annoying accidental disconnects - because we know those can be infuriating!

Closed-back Design:

The closed-back design goes up to 20dB passive isolation, which guarantees comfort and complete isolation.

Colored ID Rings:

Maybe not the fanciest of the features, but the ID rings will help immensely. Getting your cords mixed up is irritating, and ID rings help keep them separate and eliminate any confusion and cord mix-ups.

Dual Cable Inputs:

To each their own when it comes to pluggin' in the cable! You can decide where you want the cable plugged in. Whether you like the left or right cup is totally up to you! Another simple but excellent feature that conforms to the user.

These headphones are perfect for those new audio engineers or content creators. You get quality and cost-efficiency, and you can't go wrong with its usability and build quality. Don't sleep on these headphones!
