The aperture ring features a click switch and lock switch to prevent accidental aperture changes, and the 11-blade diaphragm helps to produce an attractive out-of-focus quality. The petal-shaped lens hood reduces lens flare when working in strong lighting conditions and offers some protection to the front element of the lens. Additionally, the 82mm front filter threads and rear filter holder accommodate sheet-type filters. The curved lip at the front of the lens keeps an optional lens heater from slipping in front of the lens, and the brass bayonet mount ensures precision and durability.
