The head: smooth and precise, with a unique control handle
The two-way head included with the Key Grip Video Tripod Kit offers separate pan and tilt adjustments, both featuring etched scales for precise control. It comes with a large, extendable, and lockable control handle for added comfort. Unscrewing the aluminum cap on the handle reveals two 4mm hex keys, perfect for adjusting tripod leg bolts or securing the quick release plate to your camera. Additionally, a 2.5mm hex key can be used to adjust the monopod’s grub screw, keeping the head securely attached. The head’s tilt tension adjustment ensures smooth, controlled movements, while silver touch points make the control knobs easy to identify.
This head is equipped with the 3398 Dovetail (arca-type) Quick Release Plate, which features both ¼”-20 and 3/8”-16 mounting bolts. These can be installed using a flathead screwdriver or one of the 4mm hex keys from the handle. The plate also includes a spring-loaded anti-twist pin and is over 101mm long for proper rig balancing. A scale on the QR platform enables quick setup replication, and the platform itself is repositionable, allowing front-to-back or side-to-side sliding—ideal for mounting a camera with a cage or L-bracket. The plate’s safety bolt prevents accidental sliding, and its Dovetail connection is compatible with a wide range of ProMaster and other brand accessories.

The legs: ultra-compact design with an integrated leveling base
The Key Grip’s 4-section legs are designed to be highly compact due to their column-less structure and quick-to-deploy twist locks. Each leg can be independently adjusted to one of three angle positions, allowing the tripod to achieve a low ground-level setup of just over 9 inches. An integrated 55mm leveling base, complete with a built-in bullseye level, offers 15 degrees of adjustment, making it easy to level your gear without altering the leg positions. The tripod’s collar includes a removable weight hook for added stability, along with two threaded accessory ports featuring stainless steel sleeves—one with a 3/8”-16 port and another with a ¼”-20 connection, ideal for attaching accessories like flex arms or articulating arms.
The Key Grip comes with two types of feet: pre-installed 50mm self-leveling feet, which offer excellent stability and vibration dampening, and a set of standard tripod feet, which may be more suitable for rough or uneven terrain. The feet can be swapped using the 4mm hex key stored in the handle.
Soft silicone on the tripod legs, handle, and twist locks ensures a comfortable and secure grip. Designed to perform in cold conditions, both the tripod and head are rated for use down to -4°F (-20°C). With a load capacity of 6.6 lbs, this kit is perfect for mirrorless video rigs but also excels in still photography. The head, compatible with Dovetail-style (arca-compatible) tripod collars, works well with telephoto lenses for wildlife or sports photography, offering smooth tracking. It’s also an excellent choice for birdwatching, as the two-way head pairs nicely with spotting scopes, and the lightweight tripod is easy to carry during outdoor treks.
For easy transportation, the kit includes a padded carrying case with an accessory pouch and shoulder strap.
